music is performed at Air Force Academy cadet military parades,
civic parades and national ceremonial events. Acclaimed as one of
the finest military marching bands in the United States, The United
States Air Force Academy Band Marching Band is made up of professional
full-time musicians, many coming from the finest major colleges
and universities in the nation. The Marching Band was formed at

were added to the band instrumentation in 1959 and were part of
the marching unit until 1973 when the Cadet Drum and Bugle Corps
was created. In 1993, the Band was renamed The United States Air
Force Band of the Rockies and reassigned to Headquarters, Air Force
Space Command, also located in Colorado Springs. On October 1, 2003
the band was once again assigned to the USAF Academy and renamed

pieces strong with the versatility of fielding smaller marching
units appropriate for any ceremonial occasion. The Band represents
The USAF Academy throughout the nation at civic parades, special
events and national ceremonies to include performances for the President
and Vice President of the United States. All public performances
