Technical Sergeant Ricky
Sweum
Technical Sergeant Ricky Sweum, saxophone, was raised in Eugene, Oregon. As a member of the 1992 McDonald's All American Jazz Band/Grammy Band under the direction of Henry Mancini, he performed for NYC's Grammy Nominee party and appeared on the Grammies Telecast and Good Morning America television shows. He was a "Yamaha Young Performing Artist" and was recognized with an award from the NFAA/IAJE Young Talent Search.
Ricky attended Mt. Hood College & William Paterson University as a jazz performance major. Sergeant Sweum has performed with the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra, and the international tour of “The Sound of Music.”
Sergeant Sweum joined the U.S. Air Force "Band of the West" in San Antonio, Texas in 2003. He has recorded numerous projects under his name and as sideman to both Air Force and civilian recordings. Some of his tracks gained number one chart positions on the mp3.com website. In 2005, joined the Air Force Academy band and currently performs with the concert band, marching band, and the Falconaires.
