Master Sergeant Gary W Poffenbarger

Master Sergeant Gary W. Poffenbarger, tuba, from Arkadelphia, Arkansas, received his Bachelor of Music Education degree from Arkansas State University and a Master of Music degree from Boston University. While studying tuba in Boston, Sergeant Poffenbarger was coached by Timothy Morrison, David Ohanian, Roger Voisin, and the Empire Brass Quintet. He has performed with the Central Massachusetts Symphony Orchestra, the Boston University Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, the Northeast Arkansas Symphony, and the Interlochen Festival Orchestra. He performed twice at Carnegie Hall as a member of the Epic Brass Quintet. In 1991 Sergeant Poffenbarger joined The United States Air Force Academy Band as tubist in the Ceremonial Brass and was featured as a soloist at the Armed Forces Tuba Conference in Washington D.C. Sergeant Poffenbarger currently performs with the concert band, marching band, and Stellar Brass.
